PARTY CHIEF

Job Summary


We are seeking a skilled and experienced Party Chief to lead a survey field crew on a variety of projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in land surveying, including data collection and operation of advanced surveying equipment. This role is responsible for directing field operations, ensuring accuracy of measurements, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety. This is an outdoor, physically demanding position that requires travel.


Requirements


• Must pass a drug screening
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
• Multiple years of experience leading a survey field crew
• High school diploma or equivalent

• Ability to perform physically demanding work (lifting, walking long distances, working outdoors)

• Willingness and ability to travel as required


Key Responsibilities


• Lead and direct a 2–4 person field crew on boundary, topographic, route, and construction surveys
• Operate and oversee the use of all survey equipment, including total stations and GPS/GNSS systems
• Conduct field surveys to collect accurate measurements and data
• Perform and verify field calculations related to collected survey data
• Review plans, plats, and project requirements prior to and during fieldwork
• Perform construction staking, including line, grade, and elevation layout
• Clear survey lines as needed, including cutting brush and small trees
• Ensure proper setup, calibration, and breakdown of survey equipment
• Maintain accurate field notes and electronic data collection
• Coordinate with project managers regarding project scope, schedule, and deliverables
• Enforce compliance with safety protocols and company procedures
